Lactation Consultants of Southern- & Africa (LACSA) is an organisation for qualified lactation consultants, breastfeeding peer counsellors and persons who have completed at least 20 hours of breastfeeding support training.

Our vision is to connect and empower qualified lactation consultants and trained breastfeeding supporters from Africa. Together we work to enable families to reach their breastfeeding goals by the provision of evidence-based quality care and support.

Our mission is to promote lactation support through a continent wide association that advocates for skilled lactation care and provides continuing education for lactation consultants and trained breastfeeding supporters in the African context.
 

Our goal is

• to support and empower qualified lactation consultants and trained breastfeeding supporters by providing regular discussion, development, networking and mentorship

• to lobby the relevant bodies, like health profession councils and medical aid schemes

• to educate various health professions and the public regarding the role and scope of qualified lactation consultants and trained breastfeeding supporters

 

Our logo consists of green circles representing a parent and baby's head with blue body support. 

The green colour represents the colour of life nature, energy, growth, harmony, safety and environment. 

The blue colour represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith and intelligence. 

The neutral black wording represents strength, support, discipline, elegance and formality.
